Our Volunteers
Our work at Hutt Valley RDA is almost entirely undertaken by our enthusiastic and committed volunteers. We work as a team to understand the needs of our riders, look after our horses, manage the daily rides and help with the administration. So volunteers can be involved in a number of different activities to support our programme, according to their interests and expertise.
Some of the duties of a volunteer at Hutt Valley RDA are:
- Preparing horses prior to the riders’ arrival
- Leading horses during riding sessions
- Sidewalking – assisting rider during session
- Helping with unmounted activities
- Assisting with games and equipment for sessions
- Fitting helmets and checking riders’ clothing
- Maintaining paddocks and equipment
- Keeping paperwork for rides
